Madagascar Vanilla comes from the Vanilla planifolia plant, a perennial climbing vine that can grow up to 75 feet and belongs to the Orchid family. The plant produces yellow-white flowers that form odorless pods, commonly known as vanilla beans. Each bloom must be hand-pollinated, and it takes three to four years for the plant to produce beans, which are then harvested by hand.

The beans undergo a labor-intensive process to fully develop their signature aroma and flavor. After harvesting, the beans are ground into small pieces and subjected to a two-step pressurized CO₂ extraction, capturing the aromatic constituents while preserving the natural vanilla scent.
