Wintergreen Essential Oil
Wintergreen essential oil is derived from the leaves of a creeping shrub native to coniferous regions. Its primary chemical component, methyl salicylate, is valued for its soothing properties and is commonly used in topical creams and massage blends. Wintergreen and Birch are the only plants in the world that naturally contain methyl salicylate.
Small amounts of Wintergreen are also used as a flavoring in candies, toothpaste, and chewing gum. When diffused, it offers a refreshing, uplifting, and stimulating aroma.
Through doTERRA’s Co-Impact Sourcing® initiative, Wintergreen is sustainably wild-harvested in Nepal by rural villagers and distilled in community-owned facilities, helping create economic opportunities in remote regions while ensuring a high-quality, ethically sourced essential oil.
